Her passion for Black maternal health blossomed during this time, as she provided social support, empowerment, and stress-reduction techniques to Black/African American women, striving to improve life expectancy and birth outcomes.
Out of this passion, JNL Consulting, LLC, and JNL Foundation, Inc. were born. Leandra envisioned a world where the connection and communication between providers and patients, particularly Black women, flowed seamlessly. She committed herself to being a tangible change agent in the lives of Black women and their families, ensuring they felt seen, valued, and heard.
A perpetual student at heart, Leandra is also an avid traveler and finds immense joy in sharing laughter with her family and friends. Her unwavering dedication to bridging the gap in healthcare and curating spaces for meaningful connections is her driving force.

Meet Joann!
Joann Rasco's journey began at California State University-Humboldt and continued at California State University-Dominguez Hills, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2013. However, her true calling was just beginning to take shape.
In 2016, Joann embarked on a transformative career path when she joined the City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services as a Health Educator II for the Black Infant Health Program-Long Beach. This pivotal role allowed Joann to connect with her community on a profound level.
As a Community Outreach Liaison, lactation educator, advocate, and group moderator, Joann's deep well of compassion and unwavering dedication to Black maternal health care began to flourish. She emerged as a powerful voice for women in these vital spaces, determined to make a lasting impact.
At Black Infant Health Long Beach, Joann's leadership prowess came to the fore. She meticulously curated and executed numerous recruitment events, both in-person and virtually, demonstrating her innate ability to unite community agencies with the women they serve.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Joann finds immense joy in her roles as a devoted wife and mother of two beautiful children. Her passion for travel and creating cherished memories with her family fuels her zest for life.
For Joann, true fulfillment comes from knowing that her work is making a profound difference in the lives of women and families every day. She envisions JNL Consulting, LLC and JNL Foundation, Inc. as platforms and spaces that will continue to bridge the gap between communities and essential service providers. Joann is committed to enabling these agencies to deliver top-tier care and services to the communities they serve.
Our journey began years ago when we worked closely with a program dedicated to black maternal and infant health. We gained a unique perspective through our roles as group facilitators, case managers, and outreach coordinators. We have experience recruiting/contacting at least 250 black women per year, enrolling 100 of those black pregnant or postpartum women, and carrying a caseload of an average of 40 women at any given time.
We heard the stories and concerns of black women during their pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum journeys. We also worked alongside providers eager to connect with black women but faced challenges in enrollment and engagement.
We also heard the desire of community health workers to reach and impact the communities they serve. We know how difficult it can be to continuously work hard and make minimal headway with the work you have been called to do.
Driven by a shared desire to create meaningful change and provide community outreach insight on individuals who are historically hard to reach, we founded JNL Consulting, LLC and JNL Foundation, Inc. Not only are we serving the community, but we are also a resource for those who are boots on the ground doing the work daily to make their communities a better, healthier place.
